SKEGNESS METHODIST CHURCHCELEBRATESTHANKSGIVING DAY
On the fourth Thursday of November 1621 The Pilgrim Fathers first celebrated Thanksgiving Day in the USA since which time it has been celebrated annually in a way similar to our Harvest Festivals. However, it is now a National Holiday in th States and a great family festival.
The new Minister at the Skegness Methodist Church, Rev. Jerry D. Ward hails from the Carolinas in the USA and the opportunity was therefore taken to organise a Thanksgiving Dinner (American style) for the benfit of Church members and friends.
Jay Jay explained to us all the history of the Thanksgiving Dinner and what it meant to he and his family.
With the help of Jay Jay's wife Yvonne, a menu of Crudities, Turkey & Pumpkin Pie was prepared. Table decorations in the form of Turkies were made from pumpkins and Pilgrim and Indian hats were made for all the guests.
