The Swallownest United Churches Choir has been in existence since 1966. The choir was formed by a member of the Salvation Army with the ecumenical aim of bringing together singers from the various churches in the area. The make-up of the choir was from the Methodist, Baptist, Church of England, Salvation Army & Town Mission Fellowships, a pattern that has continued through the years.
The choir are committed to a proclamation of the gospel through song & perform only Christian music. The performances the choir give are further enhanced through solo items in song, verse & drama.
Over the years the choir have moved out from the local Sheffield/Rotherham area & have given performances at venues including :- Birmingham, Harrogate, Halifax, Stoke on Trent, Scarborough, Jersey, Beamish, Penzance, Spalding, Boston, Sutton on Sea and now Skegness.
Other memorable recent involvements have included participation in two televised ‘Songs of Praise’ recordings from Old Trafford - Manchester & Goodison Park - Liverpool.
As part of our Christian outreach, the choir have been involved in the leading of worship within Her Majesty's' prisons at Ranby - Notts & Sudbury - Derbys.
We thank God for the opportunities of service He continues to give us & are looking forward to our evening in Skegness.
